Add an Award to a People Profile

One of your faculty members, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows or staff members has been presented with an award – congratulations!

You can add a record of the award win to the person’s profile page by following the instructions below. This will also add a record of their win to your website’s Awards page.

A sample profile page, with an award listed beneath the person's name and contact information

⚠ Note: You have to create a separate award listing each time an award is won by anyone. For example, you don’t create the President’s Teaching Award once, and then assign that award listing to more and more people as the years go on. Instead, you have to create a unique record of an award being won by a specific person at a specific time. Think of it as adding an accomplishment to a specific person’s profile page.

Add an Award Win to a Person’s Profile Page

  1. Hover over Content in the black header bar, then hover over Add Content and click on Awards. A new content-editing panel will open.
  2. Fill out the fields in the following way:
  3. Award Details:
    • Award Title: Enter a title for the award. Leave out the name of the awarding body – that goes in a separate field. e.g., Enter “Fellow,” not “Association for Computing Machinery Fellow”
    • Recipients: Select one or more recipients from the provided list – these are the people with profiles in your department. If someone is not a member of your department, click Add New Recipient, enter their name and click Add Another Item.
    • Awarding Body: Enter the name of the organization providing the award or grant (e.g., Association for Computing Machinery).
    • List the award Start Year and End Year, if applicable.
  4. More Information:
    • If you’d like, you can enter some details about the award or award-winning project in the Description field. You can take copy from the awarding body’s website or a different U of T page.
    • If applicable, fill in the Website Link field with a URL leading to the award site or a description of the award. If you do fill in the link field, remember to complete the Website Name field below it. This will ensure that the URL you entered does not appear solely as a URL on the front end of the site – and it’s mandatory:
Arrows point to the fields for Website Link and Website Name.
    • Click the Save As Draft or Publish button.

Edit an Existing Award Win

You can edit an Award the same way you would any other page: Navigate to that page (either through the navigation menu or by using the Search bar), and click on the Edit tab.
