News and Events Widget

The News and Events Widget automatically publishes links, titles and thumbnail images of your site’s most recent news stories or events.

You can add a News and Events Widget to Pages, including your homepage. You won’t be able to add the widget to other types of content, such as profile pages, awards or publications.

Add News or Events to a Page

  1. In the black header bar at the top of each page, hover over Content > Add Content, then click on News & Events Widget.
  2. In the News and Events Widget Heading field, enter the title you would like to appear above the widget.
  3. Now, you have to choose on which page the widget should appear. Click on the drop-down menu under Appear on What Page; it includes a list of all of the pages on your site.
  4. Select your preferred page.
  5. Leave the Number of Events or News Stories at 3, its default setting. (The option to show 6 stories or events is no longer supported.)
  6. Under Create Auto-Populating Widget, you’ll see a drop-down menu that allows you to choose which type of widget you need:

Here is what these options mean:

    • Upcoming Events: All future events.
    • Upcoming Event Categories: Future events that are tagged with a category of your choice (the category must already exist on your site).
    • Upcoming Event Audiences: Future events that are tagged with an audience of your choice (the audience must already exist on your site).
    • Past Events: All events that took place yesterday or earlier.
    • Past Events Categories: Events that took place yesterday or earlier and are tagged with a category of your choice (the category must already exist on your site).
    • Past Events Audiences: Events that took place yesterday or earlier and are tagged with an audience of your choice (the audience must already exist on your site).
    • News: All news stories.
    • News Categories: News stories that are tagged with a category of your choice (the category must already exist on your site).
    • News Tags: News stories that are tagged with a tag of your choice (the tag must already exist on your site).
  7. If you select a tag-, audience- or category-specific widget, you’ll then be prompted to select a category, tag or audience:
  8. Leave all of the settings under Display Settings as-is (i.e., leave them checked).
  9. Select Publish.
  10. You’ll be taken to a confirmation page that shows the details of the widget you just created. Click on the link beneath Appear on What Page to see the widget.
  11. You may not see the widget on the page right away; it can take a few minutes to show up. You can speed up the process by flushing the site’s cache. Simply hover over the Home icon in the black header bar, then click on Flush all caches. This process may take a few minutes.

⚠ Note: News & Events widgets show up at the bottom of the page. There is no way to move them above the other content on the page.
