In addition to the dynamic, widgetized content that your homepage includes (such as a homepage slider, quick links or news), you can also choose to add some static content. A welcome message is a popular choice.
Add or Edit Static Homepage Content
- Your homepage is a basic Page. That means in order to add a welcome message or other static content to your homepage – or edit existing content – you will first have to Find Your Page (using the instructions in the In the Content Panel section). The homepage will most likely be called something like “Home,” “Homepage” or even “Lorem Ipsum.” If you are having trouble finding your homepage, contact us at artsci.webliaison@utoronto.ca.
- Enter or edit content using the Body field. (Ignore the Page Title, Meta Description and Banner Image fields.) Here are a few tips:
- Any content you would typically add to the Body field can also be added to your homepage. For example, you can add headings, videos, images and even include special formatting options (e.g., columns, carousels, etc.). If you need help deciding what content and formatting would best achieve your strategic goals, please contact us at artsci.webliaison@utoronto.ca.
- If you would like to add a heading, remember that your maximum heading size should be Heading 2 – never Heading 1.
- If you are writing a welcome message, remember to include your full department name, including “University of Toronto.” This will help search-engine users find the right department.
- Once you are happy with your changes, select Save at the bottom of the page.
