Tabs

Tabs help shorten pages on your website. They make it easy for your website’s visitors to compare information, such as requirements for different programs.

Add Tabs

To add a tab set to a page:

  1. Click on the Tab icon in the editing panel.
  2. A window will pop up with several fields to fill in:

    • Tab Set Title: Enter a basic title for your tab set. This won’t display on your website, but Drupal needs content to have a unique ID.
    • Number of Tabs: Select the number of tabs you need the tab set to contain (between 2 and 9).
    • TabLink1, TabLink2, etc.: These are the public-facing titles for each tab within the set, meaning these labels will be visible to your website’s visitors.
    • Content1, Content2, etc.: Each box represents a tab within the set. Content1 is the first tab (and so on). Enter dummy text into each of the boxes. You’ll be able to add your real content, including formatting (headings, links, images, etc.), after you complete step three below.
  3. Press OK (the green button at the bottom of the pop-up window).
  4. To add content, click in the relevant tab, and start typing or pasting content, adding headings, hyperlinks, etc.

Delete a Tab or All Tabs

To delete one or all tabs within a set, you have to access the tab set’s properties menu. There are three ways to do this:

  1. Double-click on the tab set, or,
  2. Click on a tab within the set, and then click on the Tab icon in the editing panel.
  3. Right-click on the tab set and choose Edit Tabs.

Once you have completed one of the steps above:

  1. Under Remove a Tab:

    1. Remove this Tab Element: Delete all tabs and the content in them.
    2. Tab 1’s title, etc.: Remove first tab (and so on). Please note that you should not use this option if you only have two tabs; downsizing to one tab may break the remaining tab.
  2. Press OK.

Add an Additional Tab

To add one or more tabs to a previously-created tab set, you have to access the tab set’s properties menu. There are three ways to do this:

  1. Double-click on the tab set, or,
  2. Click on a tab within the set, and then click on the Tab icon in the editing panel.
  3. Right-click on the tab set and choose Edit Tabs.

Once you have completed one of the steps above:

  1. Click the drop-down menu beneath Number of Tabs:
  2. Select the number of tabs that are required. For example, if your existing tab set has two tabs but you need to add a third, select “3.”
  3. Add content to this new tab following the same method outlined under “Add Tabs” above.
